The valley is 13 km ( approx 7.5 miles) long and is full of caves of extraordinary histoical and archaeological importance, ranging from the bronze Age to the Greek and Roman occupations until the 20th century.
It is therefore possible to see traces left from prehistoric to the present day. What strikes the visitors eye, it is the height of some of the caves (some connected by long stairways and extend to four or five floors) but It is not only that takes your breath away: here, in fact, there is also a wondeful landscape of the sicilian countryside.
Our route takes about 4 hours and is therefore suitable for all types of walkers. You will discover this outstanding archaeological site, full of cave dwellings spanning many centuries and, at the same time, admire the variety of fruit trees, plants and flowers found in the valley before arriving at the “Kalura refuge” where you can take a relaxing rest.
It is recommended that hiking boots or closed shoes, small backpack, anorak and water be used.
