It is spread over an area of 3,000 hectares approx. It is divided into two areas: area A and a particularly interesting area B which includes the tail of the River Ippari in the plain of Vittoria. It was set up by the Regional Land and Enviromental Agency in June 1980 for the preservation and enhancement of the Aleppo Pine (Pinus Halepensis), species that grows spontaneously in the valley.
The itinerary consists of trails in which you can appreciate the Reserves nature, its history and culture: in fact, inside the reserve, there is also the “Mulino do Riso”, an ancient spring once used to irrigate the fields.
