After the terrible earthquake which hit Eastern Sicily, several towns were rebuilt in Baroque style with high quality architectural and artistic skills.
Ragusa Ibla is considered as the little gem of Iblei. Our visit includes a walk through the little streets connecting Ragusa with the ancient Ragusa Ibla.
In Ragusa we will visit: the Cattedrale di San Giovanni – dedicated to the patron of the city and built in the late eighteenth century, is a masterpiece of Baroque art with its majestic façade rich carvings and sculptures; the Chiesa del Collegio di Maria Addolorata – located beside the Cathedral and built in 1796 by the noblewoman Felicia Schininà.
In Ragusa Ibla, instead, we will visit: the Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Scale – a religious building characterized by the coexistence of the different styles that have taken place in different ages; the Chiesa di Santa Maria dell’Itria – famous for its beautiful colored dome and its ancient origins (it was probably built in the fifteenth or sixteenth century); the Cattedrale di San Giorgio – one of the greatest Baroque sacred architecture expressions, built between 1739 and 177; the Iblei Gardens and the Portale di San Giorgio.
This tour, along with the others which belong to the “Typical week for the tourist”, is always available. The aim is to enable visitors to choose a tour for every day of their stay.
