Palazzo Arezzo Trifiletti is a noble residence in the historic center of Ragusa, located in front of the Cathedral of St. George.
After the terrible earthquake of 1693, which destroyed most of the cities of the south eastern Sicily, the palace was rebuilt and completed in mid-nineteenth century.
The large entrance hall and courtyard are dominated by a precious portal in “asphalt stone”, locally known as “stone pitch”, surmounted by the family crest. Inside it, there are beautiful lounges furnished with period pieces and each of which is distinguished by a particular feature: the dining room, called the “Room of Angels” for the ceiling decorations (finished by the early twentieth century by the Del Campo master), the “yellow living room” which maintains an original stone flooring , encrusted with precious ceramic tiles and the “Chapel room”.
The owner, Domenico Arezzo, will guide you throughout the visit of this beautiful home with historical anecdotes and stories about the vicissitudes of the past nobility.
At the end of the visit, you will be served a rich aperitif with local delicacies:a selection of Sicilian cheeses; dry sausage; bread with DOP oil; bread with Capuliato (chopped dried tomato); spicy olives and dry snacks (Sicilian almonds, pistachio, peanuts).
